Nation: Russian Federation
In the past several years, the Russian Federation has been closely monitoring scientific progress in the hopes that new technology can improve the health and security of Russians. As a country, Russia has five priorities in our pursuit of technology: energy efficiency, IT (both the technology concerning common products and the technology concerning space), nuclear energy, and pharmaceuticals. We have already made great progress in our pursuit of these goals, especially our work in constructing mobile nuclear plants and the GLONASS program, the only other satellite navigation system besides the American GPS. In conjunction with this, Russia is now the only country still providing transport for space exploration and the largest satellite launcher in the world.
With the development of these new technologies, Russia has been honorably chosen to host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. These games will give the international community a chance to see a newly rejuvenated Russia. This will allow Russia to get a chance to redeem itself after the troubling past that Russia has had. Russia is hosting the Winter Games as a proof of how far we have come on the moral compass, and have been moving up on the ethics ladder. Russia hosting the games will allow the further improvement of our movement technology, while also further improving the technology and research available to increase tourism.
Russia is quickly becoming a recognized country in technological advances, most recently notable being the reception of the Nobel Prize in physics by Russian-born and - educated physicists Konstantin Novoselov and Andre Geim for their work on the material graphene.
Russia has recently joined the United States of America in the project AGORA, a program tasked with
Russia is also putting large amounts of research into the prestigious 2045 initiative, tasked with improving longevity of life. In more specifics, the goals of 2045 are the creation and realization of a new strategy for the development of humanity which meets global civilization challenges; the creation of optimal conditions promoting the spiritual enlightenment of humanity; and the realization of a new futuristic reality based on five principles: high spirituality, high culture, high ethics, high science and high technologies.
